There's the problem Dave the stadium if Rupp buys it (which I doubt) should be bought as an asset of the club not by one of his other companies or a newly formed company asset
Otherwise apart from a possible slight reduction in rent where will the club benefit it's all or nothing biy the ground for the club the club pay no rent is the only benefit plough the rent money in to strengthening the team
Don't forget who negotiated the sale of the ground a buyback clause wouldn't even have been a consideration
All pie in the sky anyway Gibb and his pension fund would be a foolish to sell and Gibbs nobodies fool

Makes me smile when @Park bantam@Park bantam gets stick/abuse for being what some posters regard as OTT with support for Bradford City, yet on reading this thread there are others who seem to enjoy putting the knife into Bradford City Football Club when ever possible, Bradford City fans don't you just love em .

Don't know just putting a senario out with regards what might happen.
I would hope if Rupp purchased the stadium it would be part and parcel of any potential deal for our club as we know that situation hasn't stopped buyers in the past, even Rack & Ruin bought Bradford City under those very same conditions.
Why would it be a slight reduction in rent we don't know that.

Feel sure and judging by his past commitment to the club he would want his money back and quickly
As your mate ;);) @Fordy117@Fordy117 would say "He's not a charity"

There is no buy back clause. I thought the same but someone on here put me right. He has no reason to sell apart from the non financial side ie City is VP and without it our identity is fragile. On the other hand he has gained 15% on a £2.5 million investment; there is nowhere like that on the free market. I wish I could remember who told me all of this.

I suppose if Rupp is agreeable they might negotiate between them that Gibb could have a seat at the table with Rupp holding the majority of shares and the ground becoming part and parcel of the club again. No idea if that is possible or even if Gibb would want to do that or even if Rupp would allow it.

Unfortunately because you and thousands of others just renew year after year the club couldn't care less about the fans, we are just a cash cow to them.

Disagree with you on this one Dave

The majority of fans (rightly) moan about the lack of forward progression over the last 5/6 seasons. This is caused by 2 people - Sparks and Rupp. Nobody is sticking the knife into Bradford City FC, the common thing we all love dearly. Hence the title of this thread

How any supporter can defend those 2 clowns absolutely beggars belief

Well said Steve, unfortunately some people think questioning the club is a no no.

Not sure i like the thought of that. He could buy the club then take out a new 25 year lease on whatever terms

Spot on, we all love the club. Whether you criticise those running the club, or not, no one is more a super fan or loves the club more than anyone else. I will always love Bradford City and if there was a City and Leeds shirt on a washing line I'd want us to dry first but holding those failing the club accountable is also important to a large number of people on here. Any one who gives anyone like Park stick (disagree on abuse that is too strong a word) it is usually because he likes to chip away at people when they are at their most angry with the situation.

Surely he would be doing himself down in that case

The club can afford to renew the lease, so renewing wouldn’t be viewed a screwing the club as such, but another long term commitment to a lease would tie the club down for years after his reign as chairman would end, all the while looking after the pension fund.

"We’ve got a very specific plan for next season to get out of this division, without a doubt, and we’ll be doing everything we can to achieve that."

I don't get this statement. What is so remarkably specific about our plan? Any details would be welcome. What does this mean, and what will the strategy look like?

'Very specific' as in only a few targets, a specific age range of players, very targeted tactics, very specific squad size, very specific number of young players, what?

GA doesn't seem 'very specific' to me, he said he doesn't do specific tactics after MK let him go, so I'm at a bit of a loss tbh

Yes, there is no buy back clause. That was confirmed way back in 2003. Somehow, the parties to the negotiation - JR and Sean Harvey - failed to grasp that particular issue. There is however an option for the club to extend the current lease on the current terms when it expires in 2028. Whether that makes sense for what would be yet another long term lease on a ground which is already showing its age and will need significant investment to maintain its viability as a sports stadium, is another thing

The other point is whether the terms are sensible 25 years after they were first negotiated. The index linked returns now being earned by the FLPF are generous (and that's an understatement) in current terms although at the time of the negotiation they were the best available to the club. That bit is according to the Prof and not just my opinion. There's probably some room for manoeuvre now with the lease but whether our CEO has the skills to deliver on that is debatable. At the end of the day, Gibb will know fully well what the club's alternatives are .. and there aren't too many for either party.

Our CEO doesn't have the skills to wipe dribble from chin - pretty sure Gibb and his team would make him look rather silly and inept (even more so than usual).

You see this is why I still don't exactly get where David Sharpe fits in. Yes I know he's Head of Football Operations, but from what I've read on here he is a far more experienced and skilful negotiator than Sparks, in all areas.
